http://students.ou.edu/M/Sierra.P.Mayfield-1/story%204.htmlIt was the final Battle! I watched as Beowulf said his good byes to his fellow followers. Little did they know this would be his last. He told them that if he knew he could beat the beast without a sword or weapons he would. Then he went on to Bragg about how he crushed my son, Grendel, (blah blah! He got lucky) and tore him apart limb from limb =(. He told them that when the dragon approaches him he means to stand, not run from his shooting flames, stand till fate decides who wins. His heart was firm and his hands still and he needed no hot words. He wanted them to stand near by to see who would survive and take the dragons treasure. He believed he was the only one who could do it and he was determined.
When he reached the hidden entrance he roared out a battle cry. I don't know why he did that because he woke up the dragon! Dummy! But anyway, he woke up the dragon and he was not too pleased to see Beowulf. The dragon rose and began to breathe his hot breath! (He had some bad morning breath, so bad he was breathing fire...literally!) Beowulf put up his shield and the dragon began to move in. Before you knew the war had begun.
Beowulf raised his sword and struck the dragon. He wounded the dragon but broke the blade of his sword in the process. Ooh after that he really made the dragon mad! The dragon leaped on Beowulf and went crazy! He was blowing his morning breath every where and thrashed and beat at him! I need some popcorn this is just marvelous!
Then to make everything just dandy for me I noticed that all of his followers left him! Hahaha, they ran for their lives. Wait...except for one! Wiglaf? He stayed?! Then he dashed through the hidden passage to go help his friend! Ugh!
Wiglaf brought him back, anxious because Beowulf was still alive. Beowulf told Wiglaf that he thanked his father(God) for the gold and jewels. Then he told Wiglaf that he wanted him to lead his people and to get his "brave" Geats to build him a tomb. Then he died!! Yess! Finally!
